Smoothie Week: Strawberry Lime Daiquiri-Smoothie

We’re over half way done with this week-long smoothie series! It’s been fun so far with a Cacao Banana Superfood Smoothie, a Kid-Approved Green Smoothie, and a Tropical Delight Smoothie.

I contemplated not adding this recipe because I don’t think it technically fits under the “smoothie” category… it’s sort of like a hybrid between a smoothie and slushy… a smooshy? Now that sounds weird.

But once you actually taste the finished product of this strawberry lime daiquiri smooshy, you’ll be happy I added it to the series because the taste is out of this world. You can either freeze the final product for a later time when you’re feeling like you want to whip yourself up a daiquiri (it is Spring and Summer is right around the corner) or you can gobble it up for a sweet, refreshing treat.

If you make these with super ripe, fresh-from-the-plant, juicy strawberries the flavor profiles will be absolutely amplified. The fresh squeezed lime juice adds an extra dimension that really hits your palate after you’ve enjoyed the sweet berry taste.

Just like the tropical delight smoothie, a little bit of alcohol and Jimmy Buffet never hurt anybody when enjoying this smooshy.

Side note:  If you’re using frozen strawberries, you may find you don’t need to add any ice as the frozen strawberries act as ice cubes. If using frozen strawberries and adding ice, beware that the beverage will be thick like a sorbet and blending will be difficult.

You can also opt to exclude the honey if you don’t want your strawberry daiquiri to weigh heavy on the sweet side.

Smoothie Week: Strawberry Lime Daiquiri Smoothie/Slushy
  • 1½ cup organic strawberries
  • 2 Tbs fresh squeezed lime juice
  • 2 Tbs honey
  • ¼ cup coconut water
  • ¼ cup ice cubes
  1. Place all the ingredients together and blend until smooth.
