4 New Kitchen Tools I’m Excited About + Giveaway

More often then not, it’s the simple things that make life and the things you do in it enjoyable.

Like making tents out of blankies and pillows.

Finding your very first veggie in your garden. You worked really hard to keep that little veggie alive.

A handwritten letter or package in the mail.

Discovering things that just make your life easier.

Especially things that make your life easier when you’re spending time in the kitchen. As you may know, I spend a lot of time in my kitchen so I want to make sure the tools I use on an every day basis are easy to use, easy to clean and well-made. Nothing is worse then using a tool that is absolutely miserable!

Like, my normal stand grater for instance. It’s small, it slips and the handle quite frankly, sucks. *Shudder* Seriously, I dread shredding food because of how much I dislike my grater. It’s been long overdue that I find something that is actually pleasant to use in the kitchen and a few weeks ago, my life in grater-ville has been changed — drastically.

Remember how I said it was the simple things that made life enjoyable? Well, not only did I receive a package a few weeks ago but in that package I received some amazing kitchen tools that changed my life in my kitchen!

My friends over at Kitchen IQ sent me their Parmesan Grater, V-etched Extra Coarse Grater, Potato Tool, and V-etched Better Zester to try out and I love them. The moment I took a piece of raw parmigiano reggiano and slid it across the parmesan grater, I was in heaven.

Good-bye old stand grater, hellllooo Kitchen IQ graters and tools.

So, a few general things I really love about these 4 new kitchen tools I’m excited about:

  • The graters and zester have non-skid feet on them so they don’t accidentally slip out from under you, which could cause you to cut yourself (ahem, not like I’m talking from experience here)
  • They come in cute, fun, and fresh colors — anywhere from hot pink to black, lime green to orange, these tools are stylish (and Lord knows, I need more style in my life)
  • The blade surface is non-stick which makes an unbelievably smooth grating experience; not to mention it is seriously easy to clean
  • The handles don’t make your hand cramp
  • They come with reusable covers so you don’t have to worry about slicing your hand when you go to grab it from inside your drawer

Now, let’s talk specifics:

Parmesan Grater

This parmesan grater from Kitchen IQ not only grates hard cheese like parmesan but it also grates soft cheese like a normal cheddar. When I grated my soft cheddar cheese, it literally made the cheese into little fluffy curly-ques. Um, amazing. The wide blade really made grating super easy; top that with a comfortable handle and a non-skid foot, and you’re in grater heaven. I also used this grater for chocolate and larger lemon zest pieces for my capellini alfredo dish.

V-etched Extra Coarse Grater

This grater comes in extra coarse, coarse and fine. I used the extra coarse to make my veggie patty recipe (you can view my video demonstrating how I make my veggie patties with Kitchen IQ tools down below) and it worked liked a charm. I grated carrots, potatoes, sweet potatoes, zucchini, squash — you name it. And each veggie was no harder than the other. Kitchen IQ created a “V” in their grate slats which, combined with the non-stick coating, makes grating veggies, hard and soft cheeses so smooth and easy.

Potato Tool

Okay, how awesome is this tool!? It’s a three-in-one tool which saves precious space in kitchens like mine that only have 2 mini drawers. It has a scrub brush to scrub potatoes, a peeler blade that is non-stick and, the best part, it has a little paring knife that slides right into the bottom of the tool! Now, don’t let the name steer you from just using this tool for potatoes! You can use this tool for just about any veggie — the peeler and knife worked amazing for when I was prepping my carrots. I’m usually not a huge fan for small knives but the handle on this one felt very comfortable. The blade is sharp, which is definitely a bonus because dull knives in the kitchen are no fun.

V-etched Better Zester

You may already love the zester you have now but I guarantee this V-etched Better Zester from Kitchen IQ knocks the other zesters out of the park. Using the “V” shaped design, this zester has over 300 small teeth which makes it the King of zesters. Smooth and easy zesting is what this tool is all about. Oh, and the best part? It actually has a storage container marked with measurements that slides onto the back. So, for those times where you feel like you lose more zest from being thrown all over the place then you actually use, this V-etched Better Zester keeps it all in one place for you and stores it just in case you don’t need to use it all in one shot. AND, get this, it has a squeegee to help remove the moist zest from the back of the blade. I know, genius. Use this zester for all sorts of citrus but you can also use it for nuts, chocolate and hard cheese.
