Easy Peasy Bacon Bits

Am I the only one who would cook the bacon first then try and cut them up into little pieces while they’re burning my hands because I’m too impatient for them to cool down?

I hope not because then I’d feel ultra lame. Not fun, you know, the whole burned fingers thing.

I recently had one of those “ah-ha!” moments and cut my bacon into bits before I cooked them and it worked absolutely marvelously!

I wanted to share my discovery so no one else has to suffer from singed fingers while waiting impatiently for the bacon to cook. It’s hard to wait when the smell of bacon moves through the whole house!

All you need is a good pair of kitchen shears and some pastured bacon. Just cut them up into pieces and throw them in the frying pan (but I’m sure you already knew that ;-)).

  1. I have been doing this since I started cooking at age 10. My Dad taught this to me. Thanks for sharing this tip for others to use.

  2. I like to cook my bacon on a cookie sheet in the oven. Sometimes I even cook two pounds at a time. You can cut it up before or crumble it after.
