Oyster Tour Photo Journal: Tomales Bay Oyster Company [Part 2]
Our second stop was Tomales Bay Oyster Company. These guys are the longest continually operating shellfish farm in California (they became established in 1909!). They specialize in oysters, mussels, and clams from the waters of Tomales Bay and the Pacific Northwest.
Here we learned how to shuck oysters and was able to try a different variety, including their specialty oyster called Golden Nugget and the highly prized Kumamoto.

Once in the growing waters, oysters take from 1-3 years to grow to market size.
