Winter is right around the corner my house is in full home-school mode. We try to get as much school in during the cold months so when the warm weather starts to come around in the Spring, we are ready to play outside.

Since we are busy doing school, I like to keep my meals simple and pack the most amount of nutrition in them as a can, plus make them tasty for the entire family.

Bone broth really is a staple when it comes to making food nutrient dense. I like to keep a supply in my freezer so I can pull it out to add to soups, stews, sauces and some times even just for drinking.

One of my kid’s favorite way to have their bone broth happens to be enchilada sauce. We use this for taco salads, burrito casseroles, tacos and enchiladas, of course. The sauce is normally a bit labor intensive because I use fresh veggies to add to the flavor.

When I saw Loriel’s taco seasoning blend, I knew it was be perfect to use in my enchilada sauce, shaving down the time it takes to normally make it. Woot. What a win!

This sauce is comes together so fast and is totally packed with flavor. My kids loved it and were sipping it as I was stirring it. No joke, they seriously loved it. The taco flavoring gave it a good punch of heat without the bitter flavor you often get in store bought blends. This was fresh out of the package.

This simple and quick enchilada sauce is flavored with natural spices. Using bone broth as a base it is not only full of minerals, it tastes fabulous!

Quick and Simple Enchilada Sauce

Author:
Ingredients
  • 2 cups of beef broth (really any broth will do!)
  • 1 small can of tomato paste
  • 1 Tbs apple cider vinegar
  • 2 Tbs Naturally Free Taco Seasoning (find it here)
Instructions
  1. Add broth, vinegar and seasonings to a pan and slowly bring to a simmer
  2. Add the tomato paste and stir until the sauce is thick
  3. Let simmer on low for 10 minutes to allow the flavors to blend
  4. Serve with your favorite Mexican inspired meal

See? Totally simple and you can feel good about serving this sauce to your family because it is full of healthy ingredients. Store bought sauces are full of hydrogenated oils, MSG and high fructose corn syrup when there is no need for those things to have a place in there.

This sauce totally beat any store bought one we’ve tried and it won’t take much more time than open a can from the store. Fry up some meat, heat up some shells, chop a few veggies and you have the perfect mix for Taco night. A fun meal for those days you don’t have a lot of time to spend in the kitchen.
